Liberty County Sigma’s of Phi Beta Sigma in partnership with the Hinesville Police and Liberty County Sherriff’s Department is hosting a 5k run/walk on May 22, 2022 at James A Brown Park.

The 5k is a proactive approach to help bridge the gap between law enforcement and local community. District 4 city councilman and congressional Democratic primary winner Joyce Briggs will be in attendance.

B& N Truck 2nd annual D.A.V. bike ride and cookout on Memorial Day weekend. The Bike ride starts at 10 a/m/ at the Savannah Harley Davidson shops and leaves for the Veterans Memorial Walk at Bryant Commons Park, 438 W Oglethorpe Highway. At 12:30 p.m. the convoy will head to B& N Trucking 4873 Old Louisville Road, Garden City for the cookout. For more information call (912) 355-7422.

200 Club of the Coastal Empire run for heroes. This year’s 2022 Pooler Run for Heroes will take place on Saturday, May 28. The multi-heat event begins at 8 a.m. on South Rogers Street in Pooler. The one-mile course will begin at the Pooler Parks and Recreation Department, finishing at West Chatham Middle School. All participants are instructed to park at the finish, West Chatham Middle School. Registration is $25 through May 7. The fee increases to $30 on May 8, and $35 on May 22-28. Entry is free for military, first responders and their families. All proceeds from the race will go to assist the 200 Club in fulfilling its mission to assist families of first responders who die or suffer critical injuries in the line of duty. Packet pickup will be from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday, May 28 at Fleet Feet in Savannah and from 6:30 a.m. through the start of the race on May 27 at The Pooler Parks and Recreation Department on South Rogers Street in Pooler.

Thee Living Word Church food give away is May 28, 2022 from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Thee Living Word Church, 1002 Talmadge Rd, Walthourville. It is free and open to the public.

Walthourville’s Police Department will host Cops and Cones Summer Splash at Johnnie Frasier Park on June 11, 2022, from 10am to 2pm. There will be waterslides, a dunk tank, hay ride, snow cones, food and games. A designated area will be provided for smaller children. We will be having raffles and prizes. Admission is free for all. Bring the entire family. Follow the event details on Walthourville Police Department Face book page. This entire event is free. There will be raffles and prizes throughout the day. A waiver will be signed before entering and all children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. “It is our privilege to protect, serve and work in the community for all of you.” Chief Al Hagan said.
