Students art work promotes regional book fair
LFMS.Tierra Davis
Tierra Davis’ happy bears reading earned her an honorable mention.
In the spring, students from Chatham, Effingham, and Liberty counties submitted entries for the Savannah Children’s Book Festival poster contest. Lewis Frasier Middle School submitted many entries, and was honored to have three students place in the competition.
In the middle school division, first place went to Aleah Smith, then 13, third place to Ashley Pitts, then 14, and honorable mention to Tierra Davis, then 12.  All students were attending Lewis Frasier at the time, though Aleah and Ashley have since moved on to high school
They were honored at a ceremony at the Bull Street public library in Savannah and awarded gift cards and goodie bags. Their names and artwork are displayed on the library Web site at liveoakpl.org.
On Nov. 14, the book festival took place at Forsyth Park in Savannah.  Approximately 30,000 adults and children attended. Authors and television personalities were guest stars at the Festival.  The winning posters were on display for all to see, and also were featured in other area newspapers.
