The Liberty County High School meats ID team recently placed fourth in Swainsboro’s Meats Evaluation and Technology Career Development event.
The area competition is designed to provide a competitive environment for agriculture education students.
The event also is intended to develop employment skills in the meat animal industry, expand knowledge of meat animal marketing and merchandising, develop broader analytical skills and critical thinking strategies and develop an understanding of appropriate meat terminology.
The event allowed the LCHS team — which consisted of Chason Lenz, Mycah Hamlin, Gary Adams and Shyann Reed — to develops their ability to evaluate meat animal products in order to optimize economic returns to producers and industry as well as meet the needs of the consumer.
