Voter registration deadline is Monday

Time is running out to register for participation in the November municipal elections.

The last day to register is Monday. Those wanting to register in person can do so from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at the historic Liberty County Courthouse, 100 N. Main St. in Hinesville. Call 912-876-3310 for more information.

In Long County, register in person at the Board of Elections and Registration, 459 S. McDonald St. in Ludowici, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday. Call 912-545-2234 for more information.

To be eligible to vote, participants must be at least age 17½, U.S. citizens and residents of Georgia, the county and the municipality in which they wish to vote. People also can register online or check their voter registration status at sos.ga.gov or on the GA Votes smartphone app.

Advance voting begins Monday, Oct. 12, and ends Friday, Oct. 30. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Local elections with contested races take place in the cities of Hinesville, Riceboro and Walthourville in Liberty County and Ludowici in Long County.
