The Hinesville Area Arts Council (HAAC) is pleased to announce that they have received a $5,000.00 matching Vibrant Communities Grant from the Georgia Council for the Arts.
This grant will be coupled with $5,000.00 in funds from The Hinesville Area Arts Council for a total of a $10,000.00 Grant to be used for a program in partnership with the Liberty County School System (LCSS), called Heart & Soul. This project will begin in the Spring of 2021 and will feature visual art and music. The program will be for outdoor music exhibitions for performance artists to include Jazz, Blues & Soul.
As a part of this program a visual art exhibit will be on display during the performance and will focus on Art with Soul & Feeling within the community. The program will engage all age groups in one performance program that will include: creating drawings and paintings for an exhibit focused on how Jazz, Blues & Soul music can create healing and inclusivity within the community, and during the performance, a musical piece that will be performed in conjunction with the visual arts exhibit. This musical piece will include instrumentals and vocals.
Georgia Council of the Arts Vibrant Communities artist, Samone Norsworthy, Ed. D., serving as a Board Member for the HAAC, will serve as mentor to selected students and adults commencing March 2021 until May 2021. Google Meets will be used and materials will be provided. Veteran LCSS educator, Lela Stokes-Dickens will offer creativity facilitation. Working together in partnership, HAAC and LCSS will present Heart and Soul…. contemplations of the community, supporting love, acceptance and the arts soulfully.
The Hinesville Area Arts Council is a 501(c) (3), nonprofit corporation registered in the state of Georgia. Though the Council is primarily funded through the Margaret Martin Trust Fund, we often seek the support of the business community and individuals in bringing the vision of the Council to fruition. The Council actively seeks support from the community (both financial and physical), and it is often through effective community relations that we have found our success.
