The Hinesville Police Department is now accepting applications for the Citizens’ Academy, a 10-week program offering a unique vantage point into the inner workings of the Hinesville Police Department for the city’s residents.
The academy features two different learning environments, with classroom experiences taught by Hinesville police officers and a variety of out-of-the-classroom learning experiences. Academy participants will gain firsthand knowledge about the department and a better understanding of the daily experiences of staff by visiting municipal court and participating in a four-hour ride-along with an HPD officer! Some of the many topics covered in the 2022 Citizens’ Academy are:
• Criminal Law and Procedure
• Drug Investigations and Felony Investigations
• Traffic Laws and Accident Investigation
• Police Response to Resistance Classes will be held on Wednesdays beginning Feb. 23 and ending April 27. Sessions will be from 6–8 p.m. at the Hinesville Police Department and Law Enforcement Center at 123 E. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Attendance is not mandatory for all classes, but participants must attend eight out of 10 classes to graduate from the program.
The Citizens’ Academy is free to all participants, but registration is limited. To register for the program, or for more information, please contact Star Cpl. Bryan Wolfe at 912.368.1305 or bwolfe@ cityofhinesville.org.
