Long County voters are deciding whether to renew a special option sales tax for their board of education today.

Polls are open through 7 p.m.

If approved, the 1 percent tax on sales inside the county is expected to raise $2.7 million to be used to pay bonds that were sold to finance construction of new schools. Consumers won’t see any difference from current sales tax bills. It will go into effect and last for five years.
