In celebration of the U.S. Army’s 244th birthday, a cake in the shape of a tank was cut at Thursday’s Farmers Market in Bradwell Park in downtown Hinesville. Hinesville Downtown Development Executive Director Michelle Ricketson, center, Fort Stewart Garrison Command Sgt. Maj. Rebecca Myers, far left, 3-year old Hadleigh Auer of Allenhurst (daughter of Melissa and Andrew Auer), and Navy Federal Branch Manager Katie Hargrove, far right, lead the crowd in singing Happy Birthday and cut the U.S. Army’s birthday cake. Standing back left is Jeffrey Porter, Main Street Program Coordinator. Southern Sweets fashioned the custom cake, complete with a miniature tank driver. The U.S. Army was established on June 14, 1775.
