Miss Jamira Clancy and Laila DaJanee’ West participated in the event in Midway.

The Crowning of Miss Midway was held on Saturday, October 10, 200 at 4:00 p.m.in the Council Chambers of the Midway City Hall Multi-Complex.  Face mask and social distancing was observed.

There were two contestants, Jamira LaShonna Clancy and Laila DaJanee’ West.

Jamira is the 12-year-old daughter of Shonnetta Robertson and Jamaine Clancy.  She is a 6th grade student at Midway Middle School

Laila is the 16-year-old daughter of Darrell and Lola West.  Laila is an 11th grade student and Liberty County High School.  

The winner of the contest is Miss Jamira Clancy.  The contestants and their families raised a total of $8,547.00 which was donated to the Midway Volunteer Fire Department.  Assistant Fire Chief Ricky Merritt was on hand to receive the check.  

Unlike most pageants, the Miss Midway Contest is designed to teach the participants about their community and the importance of giving back.  In previous years, the funds have been donated to the American Cancer Society, The American Red Cross, Dorchester Improvement Association, the Midway/Riceboro Library and Tri County Shelter.

Sincere Appreciation is extended to the families, friends, supporters and businesses throughout  Liberty County.
