Murder suspect apprehended in Wayne County

According to Wayne County Sheriff John G. Carter, a suspect wanted for first degree murder in Broward County, Florida was apprehended Wednesday in Jesup.

Florida resident Eric Vail, Jr., 28, was apprehended at 6735 Lanesbridge Road in Jesup by the Southeastern Regional Fugitive Task Force of the U.S. Marshals Service based in Savannah, which worked in partnership with a Broward County Sheriff’s Office Unit assigned to the U.S. Marshals Service Florida Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, according to a WCSO news release.

Vail was apprehended after a two-and-a-half hour standoff, during which time other residents were removed from the home, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Jesup Police Department, Wayne County EMS, Wayne County EMA and Madray Springs Volunteer Fire Department collaborated with these numerous law enforcement agencies to help resolve the situation and protect the public. The WCSO formally thanked the agencies involved in the operation.
