An arrest has been made in a January break-in at the Long County Recreation Department, but authorities are still looking for a second suspect.    

While investigating another incident Feb. 22 at the Recreation Department, School Resource Officer Sergeant Bruce Green and Detective Earl Freeman, both with the Long County Sheriff’s Office, received information about the location of possibly stolen archery equipment that was believed to have been related to the case.

In that break-in, 14 fiberglass bows, 96 arrows and other archery items were taken. Latent fingerprints were discovered at the scene, but a suspect was never matched.

On Feb. 22, Freeman recovered two stolen bows, two stolen bow cases and 11 stolen arrows in Mosquito Creek Mobile Home Park in Ludowici. On Feb. 23, another mobile home in Liberty County was searched with the assistance of the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office. Stolen archery equipment was also recovered during this search.    

After the four-day investigation, John Robert Robinson, 20, of Ludowici, was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary. Former Ludowici resident James Clarence Bowman, 28, also faces a second-degree burglary charge, but he has not been arrested.
Long County sheriff’s Lt. Tom Sollosi said authorities are looking for Bowman, but Sollosi said he believes Bowman might have left Georgia.  

Sollosi said the Sheriff’s Office is asking for help in locating Bowman. Anyone who has any information on his whereabouts is asked to call 912-545-2118.
