The cause of a fire that destroyed a home Wednesday night in the 700 block of Pate Rogers Road in Liberty County still is undetermined, according to Liberty County Fire Coordinator James Ashdown, who has requested that the state fire marshal conduct an investigation.
Fleming Volunteer Fire and Rescue Assistant Chief Linda Ashcraft said the fire was called in around 8 p.m. When firefighters arrived, the home was engulfed in flames. It took roughly an hour to bring the blaze under control.
The resident, who is renting the home, was out of town and since has been notified, according to Ashcraft.
The Fleming Fire Department received assistance from Lake George, Midway and Riceboro volunteer fire and rescue units.
