A former Long County School System bus driver was charged with two counts of child molestation last week, according to Ludowici Police Department Chief Diannia Duncan and Long County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Nickey Anderson.

The law-enforcement officers said that Long County resident Richard Lee Wilson, 58, was charged with two counts of child molestation Feb. 14.

According to a report furnished by Duncan, an incident allegedly happened at a motel in Ludowici. A report provided by Anderson indicates an incident allegedly occurred on Buster Phillips Road in a camper owned by Wilson.

The victim, a 9-year old female, is described as a friend of the family. Both incidents are supposed to have taken place in January.

Long County School System Superintendent Dr. Robert Waters said Wilson resigned Feb. 10 from his position as a bus driver. The board of education accepted his resignation Feb. 13 at its monthly meeting.

At Wilson’s Feb. 14 bond hearing in Long County Magistrate Court, he was assigned a bond of $60,000 — $30,000 for each charge — and a property bond of $120,000 — $60,000 for each charge. He posted a property bond and was released until his court date can be set.
