The Hinesville Police Department will have Citizens’ Academy classes from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evenings beginning Aug. 31.
The academy is designed to educate Hinesville residents about the police department’s goals, objectives, organizational structure and general operating procedures.
The course will cover the following topics: police department structure; administrative operations; criminal law and investigations; community policing; traffic investigations; training, support and law-enforcement communications.
To participate in the academy, attendees must be Hinesville residents, have no criminal records and be at least 18 years old.
The 22-hour course consists of 10 two-hour sessions and two two-hour ride-along s. Anyone who is interested can sign up at the police department or call 368-8112 for more information.
