Hinesville police are looking at multiple factors in the disappearance of missing Fort Stewart soldier Spc. Maria Cristina Cardona. Cardona recently had a baby and could be suffering from post partum depression, Hinesville Police Department detective Kyle Lairamoure confirmed Monday.
Lairamoure said there are currently no new developments in the ongoing investigation.
Cardona was assigned to the 135th Quartermaster Company, 87th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart spokesperson Kevin Larson said.  He said Cardona was reported AWOL on Nov. 9 and her unit command team then contacted Cardona’s husband and parents. The young soldier’s family in New Jersey told police they had not heard from or seen their daughter in recent weeks.
Cardona, also listed as Cardonaisaza, 23, was last seen at her Hinesville home on Nov. 6. She has brown hair and green eyes, is 5 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs 110 pounds. Cardona drives a gray 2003 Toyota Corolla, with a Georgia license plate number of BMK8063.
Anyone with information about Cardona should call Lairamoure at 368-8215.
