Three suspects have been arrested in connection with an alleged Aug. 25 kidnapping in Long County.
Capt. Nickey G. Anderson was notified of the kidnapping by Deputy Don Bierly after a victim was found late at night in the Broad Level community near Macedonia Church Road.
Shortly after questioning the victim, another victim was found in Liberty County by law-enforcement officers.
The investigation revealed that the incident began at 33 W. Kenny Drive in the Smiley Woods subdivision near Walthourville when a man allegedly used a gun to hold the victims against their will and force them into a vehicle. That suspect later was identified as Bartholomew J. Smith Jr., 28, of Hinesville.
Once the victims were in the vehicle, Smith and two other suspects, later identified as Rashad J. Doe, 26, and Jaquan D. Bradley, 27, both of Glennville, reportedly drove them out to a remote area in Long County, near Scott Road.
The victims said they thought they were going to be killed, so one captive fled from his abductors and got away by running through nearby woods.
The suspects later released the other victim near Airport Road and abandoned the vehicle.
Smith was arrested Aug. 26 in Glennville. Bradley was arrested Aug. 29 in Tattnall County by Glennville police.
Doe also was arrested Aug. 29 in Statesboro by Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
All three suspects are in custody, and bond has been denied.
Smith was on parole at the time of his arrest. Bradley was on probation at the time of his arrest.
Long County Sheriff Craig W. Nobles thanked the Glennville Police Department, the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office and the Hinesville Probation Office for the assistance that led to the suspects’ arrests.
