A woman was killed Monday evening in a single-vehicle accident on Leroy Coffer Highway near Luke Road in Liberty County, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
The woman, identified as Chancy Hart, 20, was traveling westbound on Leroy Coffer when she apparently lost control of her vehicle and hit a tree shortly after 7 p.m. Monday, Trooper Eric Wilkes said.
Wilkes said Hart, who possessed a Connecticut driver’s license, was married to a soldier who is assigned to Hunter Army Airfield. The soldier was training in Indiana and was notified Tuesday morning of the accident.
Hart was pronounced dead at the scene. A puppy that was in the vehicle survived, was pulled out by a passerby and was taken at Liberty County Animal Control, waiting to be picked up by family members.
