Carpenter MELODY cafe
U.S. Rep. Buddy Carter was in Midway at Melody's Coastal Cafe on March 19 to meet with Liberty County Chamber members and talk about what the government is doing about the COVID-19 pandemic.

First District Rep. Buddy Carter was in Midway Thursday helping with take-out and delivered restaurant meals to emphasize the current emphasis on social distancing because of the coronavirus epidemic.

Carter was at Melody’s Coastal Cafe in Midway hearing about pickup and delivery of meals and other concerns due to the disease outbreak. Cafe owner Kelli Lash explained the restaurant’s changing operations for providing food with reduced personal contact by letting customers phone in orders and pick them or using the cafe’s delivery service. Lash said the business also uses the delivery.com service.

The building at 34 N. Coastal Highway is a large one with space for diners to comply with the six-feet-of-separation recommendation if they desire. Lash said business was down about 60 percent since the coronavirus epidemic.

Carter met with Chamber of Commerce CEO Leah Poole and chamber staff during his visit.
