The shooting victim who was gunned down in the parking lot of a Hinesville convenience store, on Aug. 25, has died from his wounds.

Reed who had a Hinesville address was shot while he was in his park in a parking lot at the intersection of E.G. Miles Parkway and Palm Drive shortly after 2 p.m.

This morning HPD announced they have a person of interest and are searching for Stephon Markel Whitaker, 18, so they can question him.

Oberlander declined to comment how many times Reed was hit by gunfire.  The shooting scene had multiple evidence markers laid at the scene where cartridges were laid.

Oberlander is asking anyone with information regarding the case or Whitaker’s whereabouts to call the Hinesville Police Department at 368-8211 or their local 911 center.
