Editor, In the recent editions of the Courier, I have read, with some remorse, articles about the proposed Hinesville bypass, tax dollars going to the MidCoast Regional Airport, a new SPLOST and renewed world-wide travel.
Also in the news is the government’s initiative to cut our largest employer, the U.S. Army, to pre-World War II levels and eliminate many of the military’s activities. Without a doubt, Fort Stewart will be effected. Even before this latest initiative by the Department of Defense, there were plans to eliminate one brigade at Fort Stewart in the post-war environment.
So, I strongly encourage my elected officials to proceed with great caution on any tax-and-spending initiatives. Instead of a beltway, we needing belt-tightening.
