We are continuing to participate in the 19th annual Great American Cleanup in Liberty County.
GAC is one of the signature programs of Keep America Beautiful, the nation’s environmental improvement program. It is implemented by KAB affiliates and hundreds of other partnering organizations in more than 20,000 communities each year. KLB has been an affiliate of KAB since 1983.
We participate in this national effort because we know how important a clean community is for our quality of life. Throughout the spring, communities across America recruit volunteers to remove litter and debris in citywide and neighborhood cleanups. So, there is plenty of time for you to be involved.
These volunteer efforts can have a powerful effect. Not only do they remove litter, these group efforts are a powerful message to other citizens who litter. By working together, our volunteers send a public message that we do not want litter in our neighborhoods.
Engaging local citizens in improving our community is one way to make our community stronger and healthier. A healthy environment is a key element for creating a great quality of life for ourselves and our families. It also makes a great first impression for visitors.
On April 1, our next citywide cleanups will be in Riceboro, Walthourville and Allenhurst. Hinesville’s citywide cleanup is set for April 29. At each, Keep Liberty Beautiful provides garbage bags, safety vests, work gloves, litter reachers, water and arrangements for locations. Our local cities provide picnics for volunteers in appreciation of their efforts. We also provide Great American Cleanup T-shirts to registered volunteers.
If you or your group cannot participate on the dates scheduled, we can help you schedule a neighborhood or street cleanup on a day that works for you and your group.
Picking up the litter is important, but joining together as a community to create positive change is incredibly important. Join us in making a statement about who we are as a community.
