Long County High School, 0-6, will take on Jeff Davis High School, 1-6, tonight during homecoming.

The Blue Tide are still looking to pick up their first win of the year. Long County has had a tough schedule and have had trouble with their earlier opponents.

However, the hardest part of their schedule is over and tonight’s game should be a pretty even match-up.

The Yellow Jackets
beat Bacon County 20-13 in their opening game, but they’ve dropped six games in a row since then. In recent weeks, the team’s offense struggled, scoring only nine points during their past five games.

The Blue Tide, on the other hand, has begun to get the offense in gear, having put up 28 points last week over the No. 5 Charlton County Indians.

So far this season, the Tide has scored 59 points compared with the Yellow Jackets’ 45. Both teams are also struggling on defense, with the Tide giving up 46 points a night and the Jackets allowing 32.

Long County defeated Jeff Davis two of the past three years, including last season’s 27-20 win in Hazlehurst.

"I expect Jeff Davis to come out and play hard,
and we will have to execute and not make mistakes. We are a little banged up, but overall we are pretty healthy," Tide coach Kyle Wilson said.

The game in Ludowici starts at 7:30. The 2009 homecoming queen will be crowned at half time.
