Taniyah Bowman has made a big impact on the basketball court for the Bradwell Institute Lady Tigers, even at just barely over 5 feet tall.

Now, she’s hoping to make a similar impact in college.

The highly-decorated senior guard has signed a letter of intent with University of South Carolina-Beaufort, which is making a big move of its own.

Bowman’s signing took a great deal off her mind, she acknowledged.

“So much,” she said. “I have been stressed about this for weeks. It is such a relief to get this out of the way. It means a lot. When I was younger, I never thought I could get this far in life because of my height, but my dad told me to always continue to believe in myself.”

Bowman compiled an impressive set of numbers during her senior season – 16.5 points per game, 3.3 assists per game, 5.3 steals per game and even 3.5 rebounds per game.

Bowman finished with more than 1,300 career points in her four years at BI. She capped her senior season by being named Region 1-AAAAA player of the year and getting selected to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s all-state team for Class 5A. The Georgia Athletic Coaches Association also named Bowman the player of the year for Class 5A South.
