Former Liberty County High School track athlete Courtney Bennett won a gold medal in the discus throw for the Jacksonville State Gamecocks at the 2018 Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championship last weekend.

Bennett threw the discus 158-feet, 7 inches for the first place medal. She also beat her own school record in the shot put by four inches. Bennett cleared 49-feet 11 and ¾ inches in the shot put.

The Gamecocks finished in seventh place at the meet.
