One of Bradwell Institute’s rising seniors has decided where he will go once high school is done.
Tahshaun Frasier, one of the catalysts on last season’s Region 1-AAAAA boys basketball region championship team, has committed to Columbus State, Tigers coach Ty Randolph said. The 5-foot-10 Frasier was second on the team in scoring with 11.7 points per game last season, helping lead the Tigers to their first region crown in 30 years.
He led the team in assists, with 4.2 per game, and steals, at 2.6 per game.
“He’s hoping to prove that size doesn’t matter,” Randolph said. “It’s a good landing spot for him after high school.”
Randolph cited Frasier’s leadership ability and that his play on the court does much of the talking for him.
“He has it all. He’s the total package and it starts on the defensive end,” Randolph said. “He makes players around him better. One of the things we push at Bradwell is being a complete player. One-dimensional players get lost in the shuffle.”
The Cougars are coming off a 16-14 season under Robert Moore, who has led the program since 2010.
Sophomore Donte Oliphant and redshirt freshman Jaylin Frasier, each from Hinesville, also are on the Cougars’ roster.
The Tigers went 17-3 in summer league play behind Frasier, Chris Perry and Jamel Jackson. Randolph also liked what he saw from D.J. Pasley, Zay Thomas and Kohlmin Nelson, who is in line to start at point guard following Ja’Mar Price’s graduation.
