It was a night of firsts for two of Liberty County’s NFL players.

Former Bradwell Institute star Kevin Harris scored his first regular-season touchdown, and former Liberty County High standout Raekwon McMillan also scored his first career touchdown to help lead the New England Patriots to a 27-13 win over Arizona on Monday night.

Harris, a rookie running back, notched his first touchdown on a 13-yard run in the second quarter. He finished the night with 26 yards on eight carries.

“The thing I told him was, 'it's like SEC football, so go out there, do your thing, you've played against really good teams and that's what it is,” Patriots quarterback Mac Jones said of what he told Harris, according to patriots.com. “Here, it's the same thing. You're a young guy, but really fast.' He uses his speed well.”

McMillan scooped up a third-quarter fumble, and the veteran linebacker rambled 23 yards for the go-ahead score. McMillan finished with three tackles.

“I saw the ball, it was me and the sideline and knew I had to pick the ball up before I get out of bounds,” McMillan said to reporters after the game. I was looking back and it was only me and the lineman, if I can't beat the lineman then I don't need to be out here.

“It felt amazing, I've been through a lot, as a player and individually. It felt amazing because it was a turning point in the game for the team and I felt like after we made that play on defense, we got it rolling."

McMillan’s TD also impressed his coach.

“It was a heads up play by McMillan on a good scoop and score to show his athleticism and speed to get into the end zone,” Patriots coach Bill Belichick said. “That was a huge play, obviously.”

Liberty County grad Markel Johnson also had a 25-yard run for a touchdown to help Army beat Navy 20-17 Saturday in double overtime. Johnson scored on the Black Knights’ first play of the first OT period.
