Lady Tigers pull away in big third quarter run

Nine different Lady Tigers scored, and the Bradwell Lady Tigers opened the 2023-24 season with a convincing 69-20 win Saturday night over rival Liberty County.

Junior Parris Parham had 20 points and nine rebounds, and sophomore Ja’Nya Bush had 19 points, seven boards and 11 steals.

Freshman Janiyah Blevins scored seven points, junior Jordyn Rogers added six points, Kaydence Kern, Mikayla Oliveira and Alysia Estrada had four points each, Jamia Ousley scored three and Destiny Gethers scored two.

Though the Lady Tigers were just 1 of 10 from 3-point range, they were 27-of-54 from inside the arc.

Up 27-13 at halftime, Bradwell put the game away with a 25-5 run in the third quarter.

The Lady Tigers used a similar run in the second quarter Monday night to pull away from South Effingham in a 74-30 rout. Bradwell outscored the Lady Mustangs 29-10 in the second to open a 30-point halftime lead.

Bradwell shot 32-of-56 from the floor in the win. Bush had 19 points, five assists and six steals, while Parham added 16 points, five assists and four steals. Estrada and Ousley added seven points each and the Lady Tigers got six points apiece from Kern, Oliveira and Blevins.

The Lady Panthers play at Savannah Country Day on Dec. 1, while the Lady Tigers are off until they visit Tattnall County on Dec. 1.
