Kaneetha Gordon, a former Liberty County Lady Panther who now plays for the Armstrong Atlantic State University Pirates, set a record when the senior became AASU's new rebounding leader with 964 career boards during their hard loss to North Georgia on Jan. 21.
But the rebound number continues to go up as Gordon is on pace to break the 1,000 mark. During their loss against Columbus State on Jan. 23, Gordon - honored before the game for her career rebounding record - added another record to her resume with an Alumni Arena-record 19 rebounds.
The rebound stats for the Lady Pirates next three games against Landers, Clayton State and USC-Aiken were not available but Gordon went on tie her season high of 19 in their loss to Francis Marion on Feb. 4.
She added nine more rebounds in a 59-43 win over Georgia Southwestern.
She is the daughter of Ray and Mahalia Gordon of Riceboro.
Gordon's stats as of Feb. 6 for the 2007-08 season:
Offensive rebounds 58
Defensive rebounds 128
Three-point shots 10 of 26 attempts
Field goals 89 of 199 attempts
Assists 21
Blocks 6
Steals 16
Total points 259
