First Presbyterian Christian Academy soccer teams honored their outgoing seniors with victories Tuesday at St. James Field, propelling both squads to round two of the state playoffs.
The Lady ’Landers beat Arlington Christian, 6-0. Kelsey Higgason scored three goals, while Elaina Peterson, Asyria Daniels and Myesha Robinson each added a goal.
The Highlanders followed suit with a 9-0 win against Arlington.
Tareak Barnes led the boys by scoring five goals. Domonique Kirkley, Dylan McGarry, Robert Abrams and Tyler Causer scored a goal each.
FPCA coach Tom Sukaratana said it was a great day for outgoing seniors Katy Maier, Megan Gillon, Hope Armstrong, Tommi Cai, Demetrius Williams, Garrett Thornton and Abrams.
He said it truly was special for Abrams, the son of Gen. Rob Abrams, who is deployed.
“He scored a goal for his dad, and it’s not easy with his father not here,” Sukaratana said. “But we all came together today and acted as a team and family.”
The Lady ’Landers will host Terrell Academy at 5 p.m. today at St. James Field.
The Highlanders will travel to Valdosta on Saturday for a 2 p.m. game against Valwood Christian, a team they beat, 10-7, two weeks ago.
