Bradwell’s golf team took another second-place finish Wednesday in its second match of the season at Cherokee Rose Golf Club in Hinesville.

The match pitted the Tigers golfers against Liberty County High School, Long County and McIntosh Academy.

The Tigers’ six-member golf team combined for a 207, falling to Long County, which placed first with 198. Liberty County and McIntosh both finished with 235.

Tigers golf coach Ken Griffin said his team is becoming more consistent.

"Even though the players’ scores are higher than we want, the scores are falling as the players practice and play in matches," he said.

The coach said freshman Ken deKisser showed the most significant improvement

"His score has dropped 5 strokes between our two matches," Griffin said. "Ken’s desire to practice on and off the course is making him become a better golfer."

The Tigers were joined in the match by freshman Matt Fussell. Fussell splits his time between golf and BI’s JROTC rifle team.

But the coach said he looks forward to Fussell becoming a full-time golfer next week when rifle competition ends.

The Tigers six will play against several teams on the Pine Forest golf course in Jesup on Thursday.
