Local youth bowler places second at Pepsi Tourney

Deniece Williams of Hinesville took first place in her age division at the 2013 Georgia State Youth United States Bowling Congress Pepsi Tournament, held April 27 in Columbus.
Deniece competed in the 12-and-under girls category, earning the first-place finish and a scholarship check for $551.
Deniece bowled a 159 in her first match, 108 in game two and 198 in game three for a combined score of 465.
Deniece, who attends Waldo Pafford Elementary and bowls at Marne Lanes, started bowling at the age of 4, according to her mother, Lydia.
“It was exciting,” Lydia  Williams said about watching her daughter win the Pepsi Tournament. “I was giggling and smiling … she loves to bowl and her main goals was to win this tournament.”
