John McCosker of Richmond Hill won the 25-lap, $1,500-to-win “Shoot Out on the Coast” May 9 at the Oglethorpe Speedway Park in Pooler.
McCosker, a regular in the super-street division at OSP, passed leader Michael Davis in the closing laps to take home first-place money, along with the Home Town Auto Care trophy. This was McCosker’s first Southern Outlaw dirt series-super street division race, earning him a record rookie win in the series and at OSP.
Jamie Hopkins of Savannah placed second, while Tyler Brown of Monroe was the top finisher in the traveling series, placing third.
The series — based in Byron and in its third year of running in Georgia, South Carolina and Alabama — set a record number of cars (30)  at OSP. The 2013 series national champion, Jottie Burgamy of Wrightsville, broke an engine in practice and was unable to defend his title at OSP.
The next series race is scheduled for May 31 at Modoc (S.C.) Speedway.
