It’s a New Year and the teams are back on the hardwood courts. Here is a brief roundup for Bradwell Institute and Liberty County High School.

The Tiger boys beat Tattnall County 67-64 on Jan. 6. They lost to Richmond Hill 61-43, Jan. 8. The Tiger boys fell 82-58 against Brunswick Jan. 9.

Against Tattnall County Tristan Armas dropped in 16 points and Andre Miller chipped in 12 for the Tigers who scored in the double digits. The Tigers were 11 of 21 at the line. Against the Richmond Hill Wildcats Jaylin Frasier was the lone double-digit scorer with 15 points. Frasier was also 3of 6 from the three-point range. It was Armas who led the Tigers in their loss against Brunswick.

The varsity boys are 3-6 overall and 0-4 in region 2-(6) A.

The Lady Tigers beat Tattnall County 49-43 with Lady Tigers Taniyah Bowman and Bailey Gilmore leading the scores with 22 and 13 points respectively. The Tiger girls were 18 of 26 at the line. Against Richmond Hill the Lady Tigers lost 40-31. Bowman chipped in 19 points to lead the team. The girls also lost against Brunswick 44-35. Bowman had 11 points. K. Tillman added 10 and Gilmore had eight.

The varsity girls are 3-5 overall and 0-4 in region play.

The Tigers were scheduled to play at Effingham County yesterday. They host South Effingham Friday. The Lady Tigers play at 6 p.m. and the boys’ game will follow.

The Liberty County Lady Panthers are 4-4 overall and 1-1 in Region 3-AAA after beating Tattnall County 39-35 Jan 5, and defeating Long County 37-35 Jan. 9. Against Tattnall County Destiny Grider led the Lady Panthers with 13 points. Tynia Freeman added nine. Stats for the win against Long County had not been posted by press time. 

The Liberty boys lost 68-65 against Tattnall County and fell to Long County 66-51. Individual stats were not posted. The Panther boys are 3-6 overall and 1-1 in Region action. The Panthers were set to play Beach last night. They play at Johnson High next Tuesday. Girls’ game at 6 p.m. and the boys’ game will follow.
