Liberty County junior guard Will Richardson was named the Region 2-AAA Basketball Player of the Year for the 2016-17 season.

Richardson averaged more than 30 points a game and is the fastest player in Liberty County High School history to reach 1,000 points.

Multiple Panthers were All-Region selections this year.

Senior Davion Mitchell, who has already committed to Auburn, was selected first team All-Region, while seniors Jaalon Frazier, Tyreon Freeman and Jyaunti Haggray were selected second team All-Region, and junior Nick Roberts was named honorable mention.

In the girls Region 2-AAA selection, senior forward Alyanna Flanders was selected to first team All-Region, while junior guard Destiny Craig and senior guard Jasmine Brooks were selected to the All-Region second team.

Senior forward Kiara Edwards and sophomore guard Asiagana Achane were named honorable mentions.
