Judge Stewart elected to board of governors

ATLANTA — Superior Court Judge D. Jay Stewart of Claxton was elected to serve on the board of governors of the 40,000-member State Bar of Georgia and installed June 20 during the organization’s annual meeting on Amelia Island, Fla.

Stewart will serve in the Atlantic Judicial Circuit, post two seat on the board. He is a graduate of Walter F. George Law School at Mercer University and was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 1991.

The Board of Governors is the 150-member policymaking authority of the State Bar, with representation from each of Georgia’s judicial circuits. The board holds regular meetings five times per year.
