Gennings is a 2006 graduate of Bradwell Institute.

Army Sgt. 1st Class Kory D. McDaniel has arrived for duty in Sterling Heights, Mich.
He is a recruiter assigned to the Great Lakes Battalion.
McDaniel is the son of Isaac Jefferson of Hinesville and Joyce Jefferson of Allenhurst. His wife, Chantell, is the daughter of Aaron and Debora Harris of Prince George, Va.
In 1996, he graduated from Long County High School in Ludowici.

The U.S. Achievement Academy recently named Retha Rowe an U.S. National Award Winner in the area of history and government.  The honor is bestowed to less than 10 percent of all students in the United States.
Her history teacher Mary Lee nominated the Lewis Frasier Middle School student. The daughter of Clay and Rhonda Rowe, she is entering eighth grade.

She is the daughter of Roger Rice of Midway and Wanda F. Richardson of Tar Heel, N.C.
Rice is a 2004 graduate of West Bladen High School, Bladenboro, N.C.

Chief Master Sgt. Steven Thornton has been selected to serve as the command chief for the 165th Airlift Wing, Georgia Air National Guard in Savannah.
As command chief, he serves as the senior enlisted member of the wing, managing all enlisted programs and issues for the 800-plus airmen, non-commissioned officers and senior non-commissioned officers of Savannah’s unit.
Thornton has earned numerous medals and commendations and a bachelor’s degree in business management from St. Leo College in 1998. He and his family live in Ludowici.

Two new Air Force airmen  with ties to our area have graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas
• Airman Vincent E. Hopson is the son of Vincent and Carmen Hopson of Ludowici. He is a 2003 graduate of Long County High School.
• Airman Nicole L. Gilmore is the daughter of Hazel and David Gilmore of Allenhurst, and a 2007 graduate of the high school in Ludowici.

She is the daughter of Mark Thomas of Lexington, S.C., and Nancy McKinney of Hinesville, and a 2006 graduate of the Youth Challenge Academy of Fort Stewart.
