Henry ‘Hank’ White tourney on tap
The Henry “Hank” White Memorial Scholarship Fund will host its eighth annual Henry “Hank” White Memorial Golf tournament Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Cherokee Rose Country Club in Hinesville. The tournament is a four-man scramble, and prizes will be awarded. Participants will have a chance to win a Ford truck with a hole-in-one at a designated spot on the green. Dinner will be served after the tournament. The fee is $60 per person or $240 per team. The registration deadline is July 30.

LCRD soccer referee course in August
There will be a soccer referee entry course for participants ages 12 and older from 6-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, and from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at First Presbyterian Christian Academy.
Participants will earn referee certification upon completion. The cost is $80. For more information, call 492-5875 or 977-4642.
There will be a re-certification course available Sunday, Aug. 5.

Lady Tiger summer conditioning
The Bradwell Lady Tigers softball team has summer conditioning from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 9-11 a.m. Saturdays at the Lady Tigers’ softball field. Girls entering grades 8-12 are welcome to attend. Participants must have a current sports physical. Bring tennis shoes and a water bottle. Softball tryouts are at 6 p.m. Aug. 1. Lady Panther softball conditioning
The Liberty County High School Lady Panthers softball team has summer conditioning at 8 a.m. July 25-Aug. 1 at the Lady Panthers’ softball field. Tryouts are at 6 p.m. Aug. 1. Participants must have a current sports physical on file at the school.
Jiu jitsu training open for ages 8-older
 Jiu jitsu training is open to participants ages 8 and older. Classes will be scheduled by appointment only. For more information, call Wolfpack Jiu Jitsu at 368-2323.

Registration for the YMCA flag football and soccer programs is open to participants ages 3 and older.

Scott’s All-Stars awards ceremony
Scott’s All-Stars will host its third annual awards ceremony from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 3 at Club Stewart.
Laney High School basketball coach Kerwin “Buck” Harris will be the keynote speaker for the event.
Tickets are $10. Semi-formal attire is recommended.

Physicals for
military families set
Appointments for health screenings and sports physicals for military families are available. Appointments are open Tuesdays and Wednesdays in July at the Winn Army Community Hospital Pediatric Clinic, Thursdays at the Tuttle Army Health Clinic and Aug. 11 at the Richmond Hill Medical Home.
All appointments must be made through the Fort Stewart MEDDAC call center at 435-6633.
There will be a TRICARE representative at the Richmond Hill site for patients not enrolled at the clinic.
5K to help RHPD, Crime Stoppers
The first Squash for Josh 5K and 1-mile run will be Sept. 22 in J.F. Gregory Park in Richmond Hill.  
The race is in memory of Joshua Moore, who was fatally shot March 9, 2011, during an altercation in Midway.

Register for football, cheerleading
Liberty County Recreation Department youth football and cheerleading registration is open Aug. 1-17. The programs are for 7-12-year-olds, and the age eligibility deadline is Sept. 1, 2012. Children who are 7-8 years old play flag football and 9-12-year-olds play tackle football. Weight restrictions apply to all tackle football participants.  
The cost is $20 per child. Equipment is provided except pants for tackle-football players. Teams will be formed in Midway, Walthourville, Riceboro and Gum Branch if there are enough participants. Volunteer coaches are needed for all teams.

Liberty County Recreation Department youth soccer registration is open Aug. 1-17. The program is for children ages 4-17 as of Aug. 1. The fee is $20 per child. Games will be played on weekday evenings at James A. Brown Park starting in late September. Volunteer coaches are needed for all teams. After-school
program gears up
Registration is under way for the 2012-13 after-school program at the Liberty County Recreation Department. The program provides a safe and fun after-school alternative to day care for children in kindergarten through fifth grade.
Transportation from school, snacks, recreational activities, study time and more are included. The cost for the program is $45 per week, and a limited number of slots are available. Call 876-5359 for more information.

Sign up now for cheerleading
Registration is under way for the Liberty County Recreation Department’s competitive cheerleading program for children ages 10-14 as of Aug. 31. Team practices will be Monday and Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. The squad will participate in at least four competitions in 2013. The fee is $50 per month. Aerobics with Rocky starts Aug.
Registration is under way at the Liberty County Recreation Department for Aerobics with Rocky.  Classes are from 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Button Gwinnett gymnasium starting Aug. 6.
