Eagles seek second win

Georgia Southern will seek its second straight win to open the season when it hosts St. Francis (Pa.) at
6 p.m. Saturday.
Last Saturday at home against Savannah State, according to gseagles.com, the Eagles (1-0) rolled up 651 yards of total offense, including 576 yards rushing, en route to a 77-9 win. GSU, No. 10 in this week’s Sports Network poll,  had 35 first downs, which tied the school’s single-game record.
Running back Dominique Swope had 100 yards rushing and two touchdowns, while quarterback Jerick McKinnon had 107 yards rushing. Defensively, the Eagles made five turnovers, had three sacks and held the Tigers to 2 of 17 on third-down conversions.
Saturday’s  game is the season opener for the Red Flash, who went 5-6 last season. According to sfuathletics.com, the Red Flash will use a pair of redshirt freshmen at quarterback. Senior running back Kyle Harbridge, who redshirted the 2012 season after a preseason injury, was a third-team Beyond Sports Network All-American in 2011. That season, he had 1,950 all-purpose yards and 14 touchdowns.
On defense, 10 starters return from a squad that allowed 30.3 points and 411 yards per game in 2012.
