Actor Mark Wahlberg recently shared his deep Catholic roots in a video message he recorded for a Catholic organization that helps cultivate new priests.
Wahlberg, star of "Deepwater Horizon," among a multitude of other films, said in a Facebook video recorded ahead of the National Conference of Diocesan Vocation Directors' 2016 convention this week, that he truly values Catholic priests.
"I want my children and future generations to have good priests in their lives just like I had," the actor said.
Wahlberg described how priests have played an integral role throughout his life, noting how he sometimes got himself into trouble as a child, but "always had a priest to stick by" him and guide him.
"I was married by a priest, my children were baptized by a priest and whenever somebody in my family passed away, they've all been buried by a priest," he said.
Wahlberg continued, "My sins have been forgiven when I go to confession to a priest. Every time I go to Mass, Mass is through a priest's hands that I receive the body and blood of Jesus Christ, which strengthens me to share my Catholic faith."

The actor said he prays daily for strength and guidance, both in his vocation as well as in his role as a husband and father, calling his faith "the anchor that supports everything I do in life."
He concluded the video by thanking the National Conference of Diocesan Vocation Directors and pledging to pray for the organization's success.
While it might surprise some to hear just how deep Wahlberg's faith is, the actor has often discussed his intense devotion, noting that he attends church daily and relies upon prayer for self-betterment.
It was during a 2012 appearance on CNN's now-canceled show "Piers Morgan Tonight" that Wahlberg really dove deep on his faith, telling viewers how he spends some time at church every single day.
"If I dont go to Mass necessarily every dayI definitely go to church every day," the actor said. "Thats how I start my day. I like to get in there for about 15 or 20 minutes say my prayers."
Wahlberg said his church habit helps him to have a clear focus for the day, as he appeals to God to be a good son, husband, dad, brother, uncle and neighbor.
In the end, he said he uses the opportunity to try to be "a good leader to those who look up to me and a good follower to those that are serving God and doing the right thing."
It should be noted that Wahlberg met Pope Francis last year while hosting the World Meeting of Families event in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

"Ive always hoped that the good Lord has a sense of humor when it comes and pertains to the many movies that Ive made," Wahlberg told the audience.
