Grant applications are still being accepted from Liberty, Long and Wayne County for the Grassroots Arts Program through Golden Isles Arts & Humanities Association, the designated re-granting agency for the Georgia Council for the Arts. Deadline for the state funded arts-in communities program is Dec. 7.
The purpose of the Grassroots Arts Program is to help fund community based art projects in every county in the State of Georgia. The Georgia Legislature has been appropriating GAP funds since 1993 in an effort to expand arts experiences and opportunities at the hometown level. GIAHA serves as the re-granting agency for the Georgia Council for the Arts for seven counties in Southeast Georgia-Bryan, Camden, Glynn, Liberty, Long, McIntosh and Wayne.
Programs and projects eligible for funding include but are not limited to arts festivals, folk art programs, theatre and dance performances, visual arts exhibitions, concerts, film programs, mural projects and other art services. For more information on eligible projects or to receive a grant application, call GIAHA at (912) 262-6934. Applications are also available on the Web at www.goldenislesarts.org.
