Sound off for Sept. 16

Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so don't accept them as true unless you verify the information:

Why should anyone tell us how old our children should be before we make sure they don’t fall through the cracks of the school system? Good parenting starts with good pre-natal care. If someone needs to tell you that, you don’t need to be a parent.

I think it is a shame the board of education won’t let the disabled veterans use their old building. It’s just sitting there. What they are telling me is they don’t care about disabled veterans.

That person constantly checking your ID card is just doing their job by law. If they don’t, they could be fired or fined, or both.

I’m a clerk and I’m tired of getting yelled at by people who don’t have their IDs. It is the law. Deal with it.

I really wish I could run for mayor of Midway so we could get more shopping centers or anything we would like in the area. I’m from the Isle of Wight, not the city.

I just found out the county has a transportation system now that you can call and line up a ride. Everybody does not know about it. The city or county or whoever needs to put the information out.

Just because you’ve lived here all your life don’t mean we know you, so bring in your ID to our office anyway.

I think it’s a shame all the women in the paper who have babies, over half of them are not married yet we pay for having these babies. If you’re married, you get to have more benefits. Yet they cry they don’t have insurance and we end up paying for them.
