Country Music Television’s Colt Ford will perform Thursday at the Clubhouse in Rye Patch.
Ford, whose music is a mix of country, rock, hip-hop, and rhythm and blues, hales from just outside of Athens, and is currently performing on his “Huntin’ the World, Southern Style” tour.
The former professional golfer grew up listening to country music and, according to supporters, his music puts out, “a common message for everyone to hear.”
Ford first got noticed in the music industry by writing the song “Buck ‘Em” for the Professional Bull Riders, Inc. The song became so popular with the rodeo circuit that it became the PBR anthem.
His album “Ride Through the Country,” which came out earlier this year, reached 63 on Billboard’s Top Country Chart, and number six on Billboard’s Top Heat Seeker’s Chart.
The native Georgian has also teamed up on tunes with country stars John Michael Montgomery, Montgomery-Gentry and Jamey Johnson, while crossing over to the hip-hop genre with performers like Bone Crusher, Sunny Ledford and Adrian Young.
His current recording “No Trash in My Trailer” is a favorite on the CMT network, and the video is fast becoming a pop favorite.
The concert starts at 7 p.m. Advanced tickets are on sale at the Clubhouse for $15. Tickets on the day of the concert will cost $20s.
