Things are heating up here in the South. The kids are out of school, and everyone is getting things together for the 4th of July celebration.  Here are a few things to do while we are awaiting the arrival of fireworks and vacations.

June 12

Flag retirement ceremony

In honor of Flag Day, the American Legion Post 168 will have a flag retirement ceremony at 10 a.m. The public is invited. Drop flags off that need to be retired or just bring them to the ceremony. Call 432-1168 for more information.

Barbie Tea Party
There will be a tea party for Barbie enthusiasts of any age at 1 p.m. at the Mill’s House. Reservations are required and seating is limited. Tea party attire and hats are also required. June 14

Sculpture class for children

The Hinesville Arts Council will have a 3D sculpting camp for children. The kids will design and create a sculpture, and learn about abstract art with realistic and imaginary figures. The participants will end the camp with a completed sculpture. The camp is June 14-25 and runs from 9-11:30 am. Quilt exhibit

Exhibit of Quilt and History presented by The Stars and Stripes Guild of Hinesville will run through July 31 at the Old Liberty County Jail 302 S Main St. Call 877-4332 or visit the Hinesville Downtown Development Authority on Facebook.

Hinesville Farmer’s Market

The farmer’s market will run every Thursday through October. It is around Bradwell Park from  4-8 p.m. Come and check out the selection of fruits, vegetables, honey and other items. Items change weekly, so don’t miss out. For more information visit the Hinesville Downtown Development on Facebook.
