Chris’s Curbside Grill on Dec. 11 hosted a ribbon cutting celebration at 918D Hollywood Drive in Hinesville in conjunction with the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce.

Business owner Christopher Hicks welcomed staff, family, friends, chamber staff, ambassadors, chamber members and people from the community.

Hicks began his food career in 2004 with a 20-foot trailer at the intersection of Highway 196 and Airport Road. The venture drew a variety of customers from the local community, Savannah, Statesboro, and even as far away as Detroit, Mich., as a family of regulars stopped in each time they visited their nephew stationed at Fort Stewart.

However, licensing issues forced Hicks to close his business. Six years later, he has taken the advice of many of his old customers and friends and re-opened at a new location.

“In the last six years I have done many things, yet none gave me the same feeling of self-worth, of feeling as though I had a real purpose,” Hicks said. “Around four months ago, I came back to visit my family and saw that Aim Center Mass had the end-parcel available — which ironically enough, was the location I was going to be moving into from the trailer six years ago. It was like a crazy sign from God that I needed to be here, that I belonged here.”

Chris’s Curbside Grill offers more than 50 flavors of wings, a variety of sandwiches, black Angus burgers and a 3-pound burger challenge.

Chris’s Curbside Grill is open Monday-Thursday from 11 a.m.-8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sunday from 5-8 p.m.
