Georgia Transmission is building a 100 megawatt electric substation in Tradeport East Business Center that will serve existing and future customers in the park and eastern Liberty County.
The substation is supposed to provide more reliable electric service through redundancy. The redundancy will be achieved by the Cay Creek substation serving as relief for the Tradeport East substation when necessary.
“The Liberty County Development Authority was pleased to donate the 1.954 acres for the substation because it will benefit Tradeport East and eastern Liberty County,” said Ronald E. Tolley, chief executive officer of the LCDA. “In addition, our land donation ensures the substation will be accessible to both Coastal Electric Cooperative and Georgia Power, which will provide prospects in Tradeport East with a customer choice option.”
The substation is supposed to be finished by the end of the year.
