Training sessions focus on safety, CPR, infants and toddlers, pre-school and administration and more.
To meet the demand for professional development among area child care professionals, Early Start Child Care Resource and Referral announces its spring schedule of full-day Saturday training sessions focusing on everything from safety and CPR to effective administration of child care facilities. Training will be provided March 10 in Chatham County, April 14 in Bulloch County and June 23 in Glynn County.
Tracks include:
Basic core: Covers information about infectious disease, injury control and child abuse; required for all new employees to be taken within the first year of employment and is a good refresher class for experienced employees.
CPR/1st aid: Basic requirements for infants, children and adults
Nutrition: Safe Food, Healthy Children is designed to meet the 4-hour nutrition requirement for directors and food personnel to assist you in preparing healthy snacks. Participants will have the opportunity to make several healthy snacks.
Infants and toddlers: Three hands-on, interactive workshops designed for providers caring for children birth to 3 years old. The workshops will cover all areas of child development and will last two hours each.
Pre-school: A variety of workshops designed for providers who work with children 3 to 5 years old. Each 2-hour workshop will include all areas of child development.
Fire safety: Required by the state fire marshal’s office, training must be taken within the first 90-days of employment. This session will count as 2.5 hours of the 10-hours requirement.
Administration: An opportunity to increase your leadership skills. It is designed for owners/directors or those who aspire to work in childcare administration.
The session in Chatham County will be at Savannah Technical College, 5717 White Bluff Road. In Bulloch County it will be at the Brooklet United Methodist Church, 201 Parker Ave. in Brooklet. Both will feature all of the tracks listed above. The session on June 23 in Glynn County, at Glynn County Head Start Administrative Complex, 1 Community Action Drive in Brunswick, does not include the fire safety instruction.
