Celebrations Castle, in Long County, was transformed this past weekend for the 2020 Bradwell Institute and Liberty County High School Enchanted Masquerade Ball.
Event organizer, Fashion Designer L Boyce Palace, said she and a group of friends and sponsors planned the event in April to bring some joy to the local seniors who had so much taken away from them during their final school year.
“I’m a fashion designer who created designs for some of the students at both Bradwell and Liberty,” she said. “After listening to how upset the students were and how much money they had already spent on prom outfits, I was trying to find a way for them to have their moment.”
Palace said she had access to the castle and as the word spread, parents and sponsors came together in support of the event
She said 64 seniors had registered for the event but only about 30 showed up. She said everyone had a great time while also being safe.
Palace said the following people and organizations helped put the event together: Mrs. Rene Speed-Simmons, Dionna Bowens, Missy Fields, Tanika Wilson, Mr. Toni, photographers Charles Smith and Edward Blackmon, Marcello Page, Kroger, Walmart, Bath Beautey and Beyond, Security Crew, Angela Brown, Tila Walker, 520 Wings, DJ Julian Stokes, MWR Finance, Chuck and Annette Abbey, Lisa Johnson and all the chaperones that came to assist.
