4th of July

EDITOR'S NOTE: An incorrect version of the July 4th events on Fort Stewart story ran in the June 26 print edition of the Coastal Courier. The correct article appears below. The Courier regrets the error.

Fort Stewart invites the neighboring communities to join the soldiers and families here July 4 for a free Independence Day concert on Donovan Field followed by a spectacular fireworks display.

The concert features seven-time Grammy Award winner Lady Antebellum with special guest Caroline Jones.  Gates open at 3 p.m., the show starts at 7 and fireworks follow at 10.

“This is a great opportunity for us to celebrate our nation,” said Command Sgt. Maj. Rebecca Myers, the garrison’s senior enlisted leader. “We receive so much support throughout the year from the wonderful community here in Coastal Georgia. This is just a small way that we can say ‘thank you’ for the support to our soldiers and our families.”

The event will feature family-friendly activities like a rock-climbing wall, quad jumper and multiple bounce houses with $5 wristbands for all access.  Food and beverages will be available for purchase from local food vendors.
