Ameris Bancorp, the parent company of Ameris Bank, announced Monday that the acquisition of 18 Bank of America banking centers throughout southern Georgia and northern Florida — including the Hinesville location — has been completed.

The Bank of America branch at 102 W. Gen. Screven Way is one of the locations that will convert to Ameris Bank as part of the acquisition.

Other Bank of America branches that will become Ameris Bank are in Albany (three locations), Dublin, Fitzgerald, Moultrie, Thomasville, Tifton and Waycross, as well as eight others in Florida.

“Acquiring these locations increased our customer base in the bank’s existing footprint, and we are excited for the addition of several new markets in Georgia and Florida. This opportunity continues to enhance banking services for valued customers, talented employees and the profile of our company,” said Edwin W. Hortman Jr., the president and CEO of Ameris Bancorp, in a news release. “Ameris Bank is a community bank, rich in history with strong values, a passion for excellent customer service and a belief in the power of our communities. As always, we remain focused on our customers, being attentive to their questions, needs and goals.”

This acquisition increases Ameris Bank’s total assets to approximately $5.4 billion. Ameris Bank now has 104 full-service banking locations, in addition to eight mortgage-only locations throughout its Southeastern territory.

Ameris Bank is headquartered in Moultrie and has locations across the Southeast. The parent company, Ameris Bancorp, is listed on NASDAQ under the symbol ABCB. For more information about Ameris Bank, visit amerisbank.com.
