Man wounded after being shot at a Hinesville home

UPDATE from City of Hinesville 9/16/2019:

HINESVILLE, Ga. (September 16, 2019) – At approximately 2:22 p.m. on Sunday, September 15, officers with the Hinesville Police Department responded to the area of Peggy Sue Street in reference to an anonymous report of shots fired. As officers were in responding, a second complaint came from the residents of 789 Wildwood Drive that someone was shooting at their residence. Preliminary investigation indicates that a financial transaction was taking place between a resident of the home and the victim, who had arrived shortly before the shooting. The transaction was interrupted by a masked gunman, who began shooting into the residence after attempting to rob another subject who had been sitting outside and then ran into the home for protection. The victim of the shooting sought treatment at Liberty Regional Medical Center and was later transported to Memorial Health University Hospital in Savannah. The victim’s injuries are described as non-life threatening. The shooting appears to not be a random act and Hinesville Police Department is confident in its preliminary findings in this investigation. EARLIER REPORT

According to Hinesville Police Department Criminal Investigation Command, LT. Mike Gosseck, three men were visiting  a home on the 700 block of Wildwood Drive when an altercation between the homeowner and the men broke out.  

The altercation resulted in one of the men being shot twice when gunfire rang out in the residence. 

The yet unidentified male was transported to the emergency room of the Liberty Regional Medical Center In Hinesville by a one of the men who was also in the home. 

According to Gosseck he was later transported by Life Flight to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.  His condition is unknown at this time.  

At this time police investigators are trying to determine who fired the shots wounding the man.  Two suspects who came to the residence are currently being questioned by Hinesville Police Detectives.
